Please, let's create a 7.x branch and help on Drupal 7 port.

This is a useful module. Will work on port as soon as I'm free, Hope in a couple of weeks.

Does this means user name and pass word fields will be available in profile2?

Not sure. This module is integrating with mainly with Content Profile module and there is no version for Drupal 7.
I'm not sure if Profile2 provides that kind of option.
