I like not having to bother the contributor with yet another textbox to fill out. I'd rather leave that up to an editor.

Steven commentedThis patch complicates the set up of this module, as it is no longer "plug and play" for everyone except uid 0. Marking as postponed: unless there is more demand for this, I won't implement it.

kps commentedAttached is the patch I use: it provides the excerpt box to administrators (i.e. with 'administer nodes' permission) even when excerpts are not configured for that node type.
