kleinmp commentedThe link fields have double descriptions and in different places, so it simply chooses the first one that is available and this is the part about the number of characters. This allows it to work with the normal textarea description hiding. It probably makes more sense to work as a separate item to turn on and not work with the usual textarea descriptions, but it would still need to display both help texts.
I'm marking as a feature request.
