Hi, my description might be too long, I just want to help as much as I can.

I have been testing the latest fbss-3.x-dev and fbsmp-2.x-dev with Activity2 and have observed that when attaching links to youtube, for some videos a proper thumbnail will appear while for other videos the thumbnail is an 1x1 pixel gif image which always has the URL http://s.ytimg.com/yt/img/pixel-vfl3z5WfW.gif

This behavior has persisted since I started testing a month ago. I just performed some tests with some youtube videos on http://fbss.icecreamyou.com and I observed the same behavior. For instance http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bAsA00-5KoI and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcbAibPA2yY&feature=related displayed appropriate thumbnails while http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jj-CErr0VOY&feature=g-logo and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Ir05jYMD7Y&feature=g-logo returned the previously mentioned 1x1 pixel thumbnail URL.

A further observation is that, if you pay attention, after clicking "Attach" you get the option to select among the available thumbnails. There is always at least 1 thumbnail. If there is only 1 thumbnail then it is that 1x1 gif URL while if there are more thumbnails then the last one is always that same 1x1 gif URL (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bAsA00-5KoI). This is the only regularity in behaviour I see, I hope it helps.

Finally, as a test I tried to post the same youtube links on, god forbid, facebook and it displayed appropriate thumbnails for all videos I tested.

I set this as a support request because I am not that is a bug. Please change as appropriate. I am happy to help figuring out what is going on if you guide me on what I shall do.

You need to install emfield and emvideo, and then enable emvideo integration from the 'link' plugin settings page and chose the YouTube provider.

It doesn't run to me from the 'link' plugin settings page I see providers, but the list is empty. I'm using the emfield version 6.x-2.5.

Yes me too. Youtube thumbnails not showing up in links on statuses.

I can't find anything on the 'link' plugin settings page that has any relation to using emvideo.

any updates on this issue?
in the latest version i tried adding a youtube link.

1. no thumbnails are imported from youtube.
2. if you choose "no thumbnails" it gives 5 seperate errors.

This should be integrate in "metatag" module or "metatag open graph" module.
