We are looking for a new developer to maintain and support a Drupal site. We haven't had consistent maintenance hours billed from the current developer and don't know what to expect when seeking a new developer to take over the project. They would also be maintaining the dev site. Anyone have a ballpark?

Is it a big site? What kind of maintenance are you looking for? Help to install new modules, do security updates and server stuff or someone to help write views, add events and so on?

Right. Maintenance can mean anything from simply keeping security updates current and making sure backups are run, to ???

It can also depend on the version of Drupal, server access and the complexity of the site. For example, if there are custom modules, who is responsible if a core update breaks them.

We do maintenance for our clients and offer them a package including support, which we price according to the complexity of the site and whether they host it or we do. Generally, we only offer this service when we have an existing relationship with the client.
