Shoutbox and Shoutbox Block

I use Shoutbox on my site and I also use the shoutbox block on my homepage to make that page sort of a dashboard. My problem is since this auto updates my server does not like that since the home page gets hit the most. Is there a way to set No Auto refresh on the block and still keep auto refresh on the page.
