Upgrading from the previous version to version 4 beta completely trashed my directory view - I've attached a screenshot so you can see what I mean. Not only is it not pulling in content correctly, but the display is all mucked up.

I have cleared the views cache, no help. I attempted to clone the view, didn't work. I attempted to recreate the view and I get an error "An illegal choice has been detected. Please contact the site administrator." - I actually get this error when trying to edit any existing view now. Once I get that error, all of the form data in the view (while editing) gets messed up and displays erratically. If I have a look in the site error logs, this is what is displayed in the particular error while attempting to edit a view:

"Message Illegal choice

More information about formatting options

in Input format element."

Not sure what other information to provide - I've been using views for a very long time, this is the first issue I have ever encountered.

Oooh, that looks ugly.

Do you have devel.module available? Can you find what query that View is running and paste it for me? It looks as though you're having some kind of issues with DISTINCT in the summary, but it's hard to tell for sure.

Is this a view out of the bonus pack?

Having never used the dev module before, this was new to me... I think this is what you are requesting. :) It is rather lengthy, so I have attached it in a text file.

Thanks for your help. I hope to get this nailed down... this directory view was kind of important in my site design. -I do believe this was a included view in the bonus pack. I did try to create a similar view using the standard included things in the view module, but I keep getting that before mentioned error no matter what I do when trying to edit or create new views since upgrading.

I hope you updated to the beta on a test site and that your production site isn't in bad shape right now. If it is, I recommend you downgrade back to Views 1.5 (it should be ok to downgrade directly) because I'm not sure how quickly I'll be able to figure out what's going on here.

Thanks Merlin, falling back to 1.5 resolved the issue and downgrading was smooth with no problems. Perhaps this is just a compatibility issue with the views bonus pack? - I'm not sure if the same team is responsible for both projects...

This was a production site - I was a little careless in upgrading views having never had any issues with :)

Sorry, I should've been a little more explicit that I was concerned about the amount of testing I'd had time to do in 1.6, given the wide array of changes that had gone into it. I'm glad that things downgraded smoothly.

Technically I'm in charge of the bonus pack, but it's not getting a great deal of my time. I didn't do the directory view, but I don't think that there's anything in it that should have broken, so I'm quite sure that there's a bug here that's been introduced.
