When I upload a file and preview or submit a node, the file disappears. (It even gets removed from the /files dir.) This also happens when I try to specify a default image.

I've tried disabling file attachments and image attachments (via image module) with no success.

After further testing, it appears as though the file never get uploaded to /files at all.

Could it be possible, by any chance, that the node you are editing is part of a pageroute, and your pageroute / subform_element version is earlier than May 2007? In that case, please update those modules to the current versions and close this bug, it should work then. If you don't use pageroute then please excuse this annoying comment.
