I've recently switched my site from playing mp4's in flowplayer to html5 with mp4 and webm updates. There are times where I would like to upload the mp4 file and have the video module use that but still transcode to webm for the browsers that can't play mp4. Thus I would like the ability to turn off transcoding for each preset. It would also be nice if I could upload a file to use for a preset in lieu of transcoding.

I marked this as 6.x-4.6 because that is what I'm using. I'd be perfect happy if this was put in 7.x.

Maybe later. If you want it for Drupal 7, please create a new issue because the D6 version and D7 versions are maintained by different persons.

You can use the improved preset interface in version 6.x-5 to add a preset that just copies the input stream to the output stream.

That is more or less what I did and works fine as long as I'm always uploading an mp4.
