I had already fixed $may_cache in a previous commit, and the file preview bug is essentially a part of #140901. As the code is quite similar in the patches from both issues, I could say your patch has been applied with small changes and extensions :)

Anyways, this is now fixed. And I think it's really time to do a release now.
