I had problems with seding newsletteres where urls appear to be relative.
I enabled this module and added "Relative Paths to Absolute URLs" to the filter used for the relevant content types.

This does not seem to change anything, paths remain relative in the html page in view mode, and the newsletter still displays broken links.

Just enable it, go to text filter settings page and add Relative To Abs into filter
All relative links will be coverted into absolute
