What is the difference between this module and the uc_ideal_pro module, except for Drupal 7 support? if it is indeed a fork with D7 support this project should be merged into uc_ideal_pro instead.

As the project page states, iDEAL For Ubert integrates Ubercart with iDEAL. This is a more extensive, improved and ported version of uc_ideal_pro, development of which started at DrupalCon Copenhagen.

Because it takes a completely different approach and it has nothing to do with any specific iDEAL version, which is the case with uc_ideal_pro.

It's a completely different module that also does iDEAL, but in a completely different way.
