Dashes in variable names cause PDO errors

Dashes in persistent variable names cause PDO exceptions like the below. I know you're not supposed to use dashes, but since they still get used a lot in contrib, I wonder if Strongarm should support them. All you have to do to reproduce the error is to create a row in the variable table with a dash in the name. I used "x-x" to test.
