I have a website I enabled this on right now that becomes really slow because of the tokentree that is beeing loaded completly. The site itself was already slow I admit but loading that tree adds up in a major way.

I would really like to see a permission that allow us to not allow a user to browse the tokentree and just hides it.

I hope this can be made possible.

I wrote the patch for it.

Beyond that, it would be nice to disable token use completely. The token tree adds nearly 6,000 lines of HTML to my node edit pages.

Thanks for this patch. Would be nice to include the performance warning in the description of the permission.

Also, the title of the permission is a bit misleading. If there are tokens already in meta fields because a user with permissions add them, it doesn't cause the fields to become in accessible or prevent the user from saving the form or adding tokens manually. It simply removes the token tree.

Renamed permission, included a performance warning in the permission description. Ready to be reviewed!

The last submitted patch, metatag.module.diff, failed testing.

Metatag can now use the new popup token browser that comes with Token v7.x-1.2 and newer, so we're not going to do this.
