Localized and translated menu items not working

When using localized menu items, only the default language is shown.

When the menu item is translated, all the versions are shown regardless of the language selected.

I've followed the instructions on this page:

It seems to be a bug theme because it's working in Bartik. I guess is the way the menu items are rendered but I can't be sure.
