Status updates seem to bypass Modr8, in that they don't seem to be a content type for which "In Moderation Queue" can be set. Moderation of any part of the post which could be offensive, including attached images would ideally be part of this process, too...apologies in advance for any excessive noobness.

This isn't currently possible but is a feature request for the Activity log module - Moving over to that queue :).

Project: Activity Log » Facebook-style Statuses (Microblog)

Component: Code » Code - Functionality
Category: feature » support
Status: Active » Closed (duplicate)

It's actually against FBSS and the answer is in the documentation. (If you use Flags to do this, since you're using Activity Log to display statuses you won't have to change the view, just add a flag to statuses and it will display correctly on its own. If you want to bulk-delete things then VBO + Rules is probably the way to go.)
