Description: Canada Wide Media Limited is the largest independent publisher in Western Canada. We publish a diverse range of business, consumer and trade magazines, and are now ready to leverage our wealth of content via new media platforms including the web. As we shift from a print-centric organization to a digital leader in the industry, we are looking to build a strong development team to expand and manage our Content Management System, and produce and launch online applications such as podcasts, RSS Feeds, online newsletters, websites and online advertising campaigns.

Our Web Operations Lead will contribute to the planning, development, release, and maintenance of Canada Wide’s online applications. Working closely with our Director of Digital Media, the Web Operations Lead our successful candidate should have experience with Drupal and Content Management Systems, and will understand how to deliver a web project from concept to final product. As the first member of a growing development team, the successful candidate should be willing and able to engage in all levels of website development, from design to coding itself.

Responsibilities include:
• Administration of Drupal 5 content management system
• Modifying modules, extending our Drupal-based content management system where necessary
• Designing and creating custom modules that integrate into our Drupal5-based CMS following Drupal’s API
• Managing day-to-day operations and make improvements to performance of all online initiatives
• Making recommendations for ongoing improvements to work flow
• Providing regular metrics reports on all online initiatives
• Serving as project lead for assigned key technology initiatives
• Participating in design and user interface architecture, then turning design and user interface mockups into functional products

Requirements:
• Computer Science Degree
• At least five years experience developing online applications
• At least three years experience developing and managing Content Management Systems
• Will have designed and implemented at least 2 Content Management Systems (please provide urls/logins)
• Strong command of PHP 5, SQL, HTML, CSS, XHTML
• Knowledge of the Drupal 4.7 or 5 API
• Understanding of how to integrate design into Drupal themes
• Strong technical expertise in web development and other digital technologies
• Experience with online multimedia content publishing and distribution
• Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop CS, Macromedia Flash 8 Pro, Macromedia Dreamweaver, Adobe Audition
• High-level problem-solving skills
• Advanced communication and teamwork skills
