After install and config this module
I set User One Login Name: @admin@ and enter correct IP address.
it allows me login using drupal user name.
In log messages I see only line: Session opened for admin.
Instead of: Login attempt failed for user one with Drupal username (%user) and correct password

If I use different IP address it works as disigned.

I have tried the scenario described by the OP, and find that I cannot reproduce the error.

I found that if I set a login name, then that needed to be used to achieve a login. The original user name will not work, event when the login name is the original username with special characters before or after it.

I recommend that this issue is changed to "closed - cannot reproduce" unless OP has more information.
