How to export a book

Through the book module the users can help prepare a book. OK, what then? Is it only for online use? Is there any way to export the whole book (maybe in .rtf or .pdf)?
I searched through the forums but the relevant posts seem to indicate that there is no export function.

Export to Docbook format
There was a module (http://drupal.org/project/export_docbook) for exporting books to Docbook format, although this format would still need to be turned into designed output (via InDesign or some other system which supports Docbook). However the module hasn't been updated to v5, and there hasn't been a CVS message in the last year, so it appears to have been abandoned.

Look at Pdfview
This doesn't really answer your question about exporting whole books (I don't think there is a way), but you can export nodes with Pdfview. It might be the next best thing.
