When unchecking the checkbox in the field's settings, I expect the files to be always listed.
This doesn't work as expected, and files are not listed by default, nor do I have the option to list them in the node's edit page.

This is preliminarily fixed in CVS HEAD a.k.a. version 5.x-2.x. At least for normal node views, getting Views right is a bit more difficult. Please post any follow-ups to the appropriate issue, #177638.
