Cannot retrieve rackspace files

I created a container and class for rackspace cloud. Then I created a file field that bridges to the class. I am able to upload files to rackspace. When I look at my rackspace storage the files are shown. However when I attempt to retrieve the files I get the message Warning: readfile(temporary://storage-EdfHTZ): failed to open stream: "DrupalTemporaryStreamWrapper::stream_open" call failed in StorageContainer->serviceInstanceOutput() (line 621 of /Users/jhenry/Sites/fuego/sites/all/modules/storage_api/container.inc).

Will you please help me determine what I'm doing wrong?
