I created an expandable menu item "Community" with which to group several blocks, e.g., "Reviews," "Custom Tips," "Privatemsg Menu," "Classified Ads," etc.. What I want to do is create an index page so that when the user clicks on "Community," in order to expand it, that this Index page loads with links to the same items currently grouped under the "Community" parent navigation item so that they can select an item from the page as well as from the menu itself. How do I do this? I've been experimenting for hours with no success.

you could try using the page content type and your necessary links to that page and then link that page to the menu items you want it to show for in administer -> menus -> edit for the menu items you want to change. you want to change the path field to point to the page you created with your links on it.
