Conference Management System

titel - April 22, 2007 - 01:10

Hi everybody,

For a short introduction about myself, I already developed a couple of Drupal powered websites, but nothing fancy, just core Drupal installations with a few modules installed and some theme customizations...

The project that I'm considering to use Drupal for now, on the other hand, as a conference management system for a 600+ conference, is quite complex and is meant to serve over four categories of users: externals - general internet surfers, conference attendees, conference speakers and organizing team.

As a map of features that this system would be finally expected to provide are:

  1. Registration
    • Delegate registration
    • Workshop/plenary places
    • Hotel reservations
  2. Speaker management
    • Delegate registration
    • Workshop/plenary places
    • Hotel reservations
  3. Event reporting
  4. Invoicing & payment
  5. On the Day
  6. Further services

For a short introduction

    • Presentation materials
  3. Event reporting
  4. Invoicing & payment
  5. Further services
    • Name badges

What I was hoping to get from you is your opinion on whether or not Drupal is suitable for this project, if there are any similar projects already powered by Drupal, and let's say a set of modules to start with in order to achieve this.

Thank you in advanced,

CCK, Views and Work-flow module?

titel - April 24, 2007 - 17:20

I was thinking,

How doable would it be to not use anything else here but the CCK, views and work-flow modules to create all the type of content I need and the relations between them.

After reading a bit on the topic it seems kind of achievable; what would though be the challenges or the problems in trying to implement something like this?

The reason I'm looking into this for is because most of the solutions indicated so far are either very complex or don't really offer the features I'm looking for...
