There are users who just love to upload images. Eats up hard drive space even with low image file size in settings. Can you allow for the option to have remote image links from www.imageshack.us and other sites.

personally, i'd mark this as won't fix because it's totally against the whole purpose of the module. but i'll let walka or someone else have the final say.

I think integrating images from other sites shouldn't be the goal of the image module.

If you want to use imageshack you can show the images on other ways.

i would also vote for won't fix

definitely, this is not the purpose of the image module

i somehow feel like people forget that displaying images in drupal is sometimes as simple as enabling Only local images are allowed. in the HTML filter or installing the BBCode module

finally, sites like www.imageshack.us offer links for forums and it's fine, however how will you make sure your users won't hotlink some private webspace and waste someone's bandwith without permission ?
