D5 has a native user search built in ?

Not to my knowledge. It has the 'ability' to search user names, but forget being able to search any custom profile fields that are added.

Yes, I plan to - not sure when I have the time though.

I would very much like to see it happen :). perhaps i shall learn coding drupal as well...
