Nice short writeups by Media Crumb related to a recently finished project they did for SimplyHired. In redesigning SimplyFired, a companion site, they looked to Drupal and Pligg for the ability to build a site with Digg-like voting functionality. They eventually went with Pligg, but there are some good bits in both blog posts about Drupal.

I'm about to launch a site with news submission and voting ability as well, and also went through the process of weighing which CMS would serve my needs better, and long story short, I went with Drupal for many of the same reasons mentioned in the second story.
