in there i found several soft links of admin's sites to /var/aegir/platform/_platform_/sites/...
also in /var/aegir/clients/admin/backups the soft links also existed.
in both cases the soft links were also dead links.
these were not deleted when the sites were deleted.

Deleting backups is really something else, maybe https://drupal.org/project/hosting_backup_gc could help you there.
