I created a view and set the format to table. Then followed up with making the appropriate columns sortable.
But no table header links are visible.
I sincerly hope that this is a unintuitive administration thing and not a true bug.

carlmcdade commentedI changed this to a documentation bug because inorder for them to work the header need ajax. But this is not in the UI text or the documentation.

nod_I'm not sure this belongs to core. Might want to move your issue to views. Have you tried with 7.10 too ?
If you're unsure, don't mark it as bug it might not be. Also read about the Priority thing, this is not critical.
( edit ) Looks like i took too long to respond or you didn't look enough before adding the issue :þ

carlmcdade commentedThe table headers are also the labels on fields chosen. So if you remove the label so it does not appear anywhere else then you may have to hide it again with CSS.
I spent two days hunting for the solution to these things before I posted. Unfortunately I don't have time to further explore the matter. Maybe next month.
P.S. Views is part of core. Though it would be nice if views and CCK were listed in the components list.

kars-t commentedHi
I am closing this issue to clean up the issue queue. Feel free to reopen the issue if there is new information and the problem still resides. If not please make sure you close your issues that you don't need any more.
Maybe you can get support from the local user group. Please take a look at this list at groups.drupal.org.
