I just switched my laptop to Ubuntu 7.04 and am using Firefox 2.0.0.3 and for some reason I am unable to login to both of my drupal sites. I can access it with my other computer with both browsers (IE 6 and FF) but not on this one. When I check the logs of the site it shows me as logged in at the time that I tried to but after filling in my passwords and hitting submit it goes to a blank page after 1 min of patient waiting. Takes forever! Anyone else having this problem? Is it the browser of the site? I am a noobie to Linux but Ubuntu was the easiest install ever. I tried the Ephiphany browser as well and got the same thing. It might be a firewall somewhere on my system but I haven't the foggiest where to look! I found some info on clearing the cache of all info, which I did. I haven't installed any modules that would cause this lately. As far as I could tell everything was working fine. I tried both sites. One is running 4.7 and one is running 4.6.3. Any help would be appreciated.

Re : cookies
Delete your cookies and try again.
Delete cookies
Did this numerous times. Doesn't seem to help.
Thanks anyways though.

Tried Opera and this is what I got.
You tried to access the address http://www.mysite.com/?q=node&destination=node, which is currently unavailable. Please make sure that the Web address (URL) is correctly spelled and punctuated, then try reloading the page.
Make sure your Internet connection is active and check whether other applications that rely on the same connection are working.
Check that the setup of any Internet security software is correct and does not interfere with ordinary Web browsing.
If you are behind a firewall on a Local Area Network and think this may be causing problems, talk to your systems administrator.
Try pressing the F12 key on your keyboard and disabling proxy servers, unless you know that you are required to use a proxy to connect to the Internet. Reload the page.
I can reproduce this too
I think this could be the session issue with php 5.2.1 - a fix for this has gone in last year sometime (including to Drupal 4.6), but it could be a subtle variation on that.
Weird problem!
I followed as many fixes as I could, edited the settings about session and nothing worked. I can log in from my windows machine and everything is fine but not from my linux computer. It logs me in and I can trace the times in the log files but the screen is blank once it loads. and there are not admin links in the menu! Any comments/help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Check Firefox preferences
Check your preferences in Firefox to see if Javascript is enabled. (Edit >> Preferences >> Content)
It should be enabled. So should cookies (on the Privacy tab).
For further debugging, navigate to "about:config" using both your Windows and your Ubuntu computer. Compare the configurations for differences. I know that Debian and Canonical both sometimes make changes to the defaults for security sake. They are both much more concerned about security and privacy than Microsoft is.
I myself use Firefox over the Kubuntu desktop (Feisty Fawn 7.04) and haven't had any problems with Drupal. I haven't tried Ubuntu's GNOME desktop though.

Thanks that is probably the problem
I logged in with my browser from my Mythtv computer and everything came up fine and its on Firefox. There are probably some security issues on the laptop that are stopping it from logging in to the site. Thanks I will check the broswer settings side by side with those of my Windows Pc and see what the difference is.
Thanks

No idea what I did
I did go through the about:config on the browser and didn't change anything ( I think) but today I was able to log in with the browser from my Ubuntu laptop. Not sure what I did but it worked. It might have been glitch in the config file that had to be reloaded once I played with it. Anyways its working now and I wish I had more info to add to the problem if and when someone else has it. Sorry I can't be more specific.
Thanks for the help everyone! I just love Drupal! Its the best! Keep up the good work!
