The 2.x branch of the Media module contains a significant number of changes vs. the original branch of the module.

In order address new features and changes (such as #1294132: Add new media redirects users to an incorrect path) required by Media 2.x a 2.x branch of Workbench Media should be created. Compatibility with the 1.x branch of Media can continue to exist in the 1.x branch of Workbench Media.
