On the page at http://205.186.164.135/~imeriti/management, the vertical text of the active slide should be white (#ffffff). When viewing the css in firebug, it is saying it should be white. However, once I enable cufon for that font the color does not change depending upon if the slide is active or not - thus staying a grey color.I"m guessing that Cufon does not have the ability to change the properties of the font once rendered (upon changing the active slide).

Has anybody else experienced this?

So the issue pertains to Cufon and the active state of an element. I see it's a known issue but I can't get any of the workarounds to actually work. Hopefully someone has a solution.
