I've generally had great success with Drupal 5.1 and am very happy with my site. Except for the ping module.
I'm not sure it works at all. I have a blog and two podcasts on my site, but I post them using "story" and "audio" content types. The core ping module doesn't seem to ping at all, which is a problem.
I found an alternative module called multiping that works nicely. It's not even listed on the contributed modules section. I found it at the developer's site.
My question is this: Is it possible to provide better ping functionality with the core module, something akin to multiping? If I were a developer, I'd volunteer to handle it myself. But since I'm not, I'll just raise the question.
