This issue is used to track individual decisions for conduct of the Drupal Association's 2012 elections of At Large board directors. The primary planning documentation is a wiki on groups.drupal.org.

The draft plan, capturing the outcome of the discussion, is at http://groups.drupal.org/node/201753.

Where needed, we can create a separate issue for each major decision.

The steps are:

  1. Outline each decision component in the planning wiki. Each decision should have clearly captured decision criteria and options should be evaluated with explicit reference to those criteria.
  2. If no consensus is emerging in the wiki, open a separate thread on groups.drupal.org, outlining the leading options.
  3. If there is still no emerging consensus, bring the question to an election planning meeting.
  4. Once a consensus is emerging, use an issue in the drupalassociation project on drupal.org, proposing the preferred solution. Link to relevant discussions and ensure the main wiki is updated to reflect any new information.
  5. When that issue is RTBC, update the draft plan to include that decision, with a link to the issue.

Process points and commitments:

  1. Avoid back channel discussion. All discussion and debate in publicly accessible posts or announced and open meetings.
  2. No fallback to decision making by members of the appointed Drupal Association elections committee. Community process from start to finish.
  3. We need to have a plan ready to give the board by the January 18 meeting, and new board members elected and ready for board sign-off by the February 8 meeting.

When we have a fully drafted plan, we will invite final community feedback before presenting the plan to the Drupal Association board.

Thanks for updating the summary! For context, that (admittedly rather aggressive) schedule is required in order for the community-elected board members to be "official" in time for DrupalCon Denver. If that doesn't happen, they miss a key opportunity to meet and collaborate with the rest of the board in-person at DrupalCon, which creates a bad footing to start from. :\

Also, since the discussion at http://groups.drupal.org/drupal-association seems like it's died down, maybe it's time to try and take an initial stab at the plan we'd like to present the board (basically, collate together the parts that seem to have consensus at this point in time), and toss it up on the group for community feedback? I won't have time to work on this before the weekend, most likely, so if someone else wants to beat me to it, my feelings will NOT be hurt! :)
