I would like to add to drupal.org/requirements something along these lines: "Drupal works with PHP as distributed on php.net. We make every effort possible to make it work with PHP as distributed by other (like operating system) vendors but this is only done on a best effort basis. In particular, suhosin is known to be break certain features and some operating systems move core components into other packages."
