as you know huge number of active website are using drupal version 6...
drupal 6 are mature enough and there is NO reason to update to ver 7...
i ask you to please provide a ver 6 of this useful module..it will be a big surprise for active social network based on drupal!

Based on http://drupal.org/project/usage/user_relationships the audience for this is shrinking quickly, and I don't have a need for this one myself.

If someone else wants to tackle this, I think that the main effort would be in converting to d6 queries, and I wouldn't be opposed to forcing a dependency on http://drupal.org/project/dbtng to make that even easier. I'm not sure where else I'm using new APIs but I wouldn't expect it is that often.

If someone wants to do the majority of the work on this, I'll commit it and maintain the d6 branch once its somewhat stable, but right now I'd rather focus on getting 7.x further along and supporting more data sources.
