I would like for users to be able to manually disconnect their accounts & remain logged into my Drupal site. I apologize if I've missed previous posts or bits of documentation -- I may be using search terms that are too broad. :/

It's not supposed to work that way. At least in the past, facebook made a point of stating that facebook connect is supposed to behave like a single sign-on across multiple websites.

That said, a lot of the code to support that behavior is showing bugs, especially with recent changes pushed by facebook.

The latest 6.x-3.x-dev build includes some options to fine-tune this behavior. Try disabling the getLoginStatus option on admin >> site building >> facebook apps >> settings.
