I want users to be able to add a PDF (or doc or xls or whatever) file to the file directory, and then let them enter the title of the link that will appear on the page.

It looks so simple, and I used to be able to do it with asset in v.5, but I really can't figure out how to do it in v.7. with IMCE and Media, it looks like any document is treated like an image and you get abroken image icon - or nothing at all when you try to add a PDF (or other file type).

Is there something I haven't configured in those modules or do they not allow it? Is there any module available for v.7 that would let me do that?
