For someone who doesn't use the site often, it might be hard te remember the shortcut. Is it an idea that a small window informs the user about the shortcut? And save in a session cookie that the message has been displayed?
"Tip: try Alt+d for faster admin access" or so.

We could put a little icon at the top right of the toolbar, that opens the coffee form. "Keyboard shortcut: alt + D" as link tooltip …

anybodyThis is already done for D8 admin toolbar. Switching back to D7 so.
