explain this to me like i'm a 5 year old.
I just installed a fresh drupal 4.51.
I patched the taxonomy.module with cvs patch
I installed the taxonomy_access.module from cvs
I enabled the taxonomy_access.module
I created test categories and roles
I added a new user and gave permissions to only one of 5 categories.
This users is able to see all categories as select options to post content and is able to view forums that are in categories that this user is set to not have access to.
Can someone tell me if at this point, after all the releases and patches, if this functionality is obtainable and explain what I am doing wrong, if so.
Thanks.

(not verified) commentedall this time, i did not notice the link to default role perms from this copy:
"The Default role allows you to set the default category permissions for all roles."
Though I am awake with only one eye, and the location of this critical setting (makes user roles work properly for restricting nodes) is not too obvious..... I still feel like an ass.
Currently, it looks like this is working properly. The user I created can now only see the categories the user has access to.
thanks,
