One of the ideas there was to put the discussions on Community Docs pages in a different tab, format them better, etc.
The Talk module was presented as one alternative.
This issue is to discuss/test alternatives, and see if we want to do anything or leave it as-is.

mitchell commentedMoving to infra to ask if the talk code is feasible. What do you think?
I've used it on sites in the past and afair it worked out nicely. The code is lightweight, but it is a bit old which may have implications for the upgrade. Personally, I believe the benefit here would be very large, because instead of deleting comments, we could encourage them. +1, Subscribe to docs discussions?

gregglesThe default code uses token to determine the title of the "talk" menu item which is too slow on D6 to work for a site like d.o.
We would need to override that theme function or alter that.
Otherwise, seems like a decent idea.

I think this can probably be closed. The new documentation pages have the comments moved to the Discuss tab. More info about these changes here https://www.drupal.org/drupalorg/blog/documentation-overhaul
