the book filter wasn't working with drupal 5.1. and the nodeapi hook wasn't inserting a new book page for each new group created either. Also, I believe there was a bug with the private and user filter because of a modules_exists('private') in a wrong place. This patch solves all this.

Rolled this into the newest version of the module, this patch looks good. I can easily see why all the changes were made.
Should be ready to download in 12 hours or so.
