Sorry, your question is less
Sorry, your question is less specific and difficult to understand. If the number of nodes that can cause excessive you mean, IMHO it depends on the capability and capacity of your server.

I want to build a Medical Records system. So many content types (about 20+) will be used: patient information, Test, Treatment, X-ray, ... That means, one patient has over 20 nodes for one consultation. One patient maybe have many consultations.
A country have 100.000.000 peoples, total maybe (theoretically): 2.000.000.000+
Have 2 solutions:
- Each content type will belong to one web (one database). Less node but more difficult to install
- All content types will belong to one web (one database). More node but very easy to install
Any idea?

Your post's ID is 1403476 so we can assume Drupal can handle a database with (approx.) 1403476 nodes for sure.
But, in practical database systems, it should be unlimited but it always depend on the memory and storage.
I don't know if I'm correct but Oracle is promising that it can handle very large data.

How many groups are too many?
The same question with "groups". Is the answer the same?
Many thanks.
