Error 400: Bad Request

If set min of 3 chrs in search, and you try wildcard searches, they don't work. A percent sign causes an "Error 400: Bad Request" line to appear in red, with nothing else on the screen. An asterisk says min 3 chrs for search.

If I search using a set of taxonomy filters, I want all results that pass the filter combination, so I don't want to enter anything in the search window, but Custom Search insists on a min of 3 chrs with no wildcards, so I don't seem to have a way of reporting all custom search taxonomy filtered results.

I guess we need a line of code that says if a % is entered, then change it to something else before using the search string, and if asterisk entered, then change it to whatever is needed to do a wildcard search (either as a single chr asterisk or a word with a wildcard asterisk on the end like "engin*" might return engine and engineer.
