I don't currently know why but its probably related the jplayer_theme() code.
date_theme() or media_theme() are probably worth a look.
It affect both playlist and single mode.
clear-cache all is needed, any other of theme-registry, registry, ... is not sufficient.

This sounds like an issue with your site. Do you have page caching enabled? Can you replicate this on a stock D7 site with just jPlayer installed?

there were some stacktraces I posted (while trying to dig this issue) : #1405836: media filter, view_mode and cache problem
