When using the Field Collection module, custom formatters do not show up on the display settings for field collections.

Do custom formatters work with field collections? - Like scottrouse, I can't see anywhere to choose the formatter, but from what I can glean in this thread , http://drupal.org/node/1340548 it would seem like there is support.

Seems to work perfectly, just like any other field. Make a formatter for a Field Collection field and then apply the formatter to the Field Collection field...

Any more details on what's not working and I'll try to help more.

FWIW, in 2.0 I'm also finding that custom formatters do show up in Field Collection display settings, and as an option in Field Collection views, so long as the field types all match. I guess two confirmations counts as a fix. (token-based formatters don't seem to show anything, but I think that's a general issue - #1787132: Cannot get the tokens working - not something specific to Field Collection)
