Alright folks here is what I am trying to do, as I am sure a lot of people are trying to do as well.

I read through a few of the posts that pertain to the same situation. What I am trying to do is get my site to post tweets to my twitter account regardless of which of my writers create the initial post.

After reading through some of the documentation I have found that either of these situations are what works. Unfortunately I am currently at work and unable to completely test it and one of the suggests I feel I am failing to understand completely.

Posting to twitter is critical for my site. There is a lot of competition in my area of work and we need to make sure we are readily competing with the other sites.

So what I have discovered after reading another post which is sort of confusing me...

Do I actually need to have login with Twitter enabled. I do not want my users logging in with their twitter/facebook/google accounts at all. I want them to create their own accounts so logging in with Twitter is obviously something I want to avoid if possible.

What the post I read fails to mention is whether it is a one time thing, log in once and then never have to log in again or is it everytime I want a post to fly out to twitter I have to log into the site with the twitter account so the cron runs. (If this is the case this is bad.)

In one of the documentation entries I read a bit ago, it said that I needed to add the twitter app to each of my writers who will be posting to twitter. I think we're at about 20 or so users who post to the site at any given time. I honestly don't want to put my twitter account on all of their accounts.

Now what I would like for this module to do:

I make a post it posts to Twitter, I understand using the whole app thing and approving it I had to do that with the Joomla site, so you approve the app on the account at least the first time.

But once its approved for the site is it something that I am going to have to do to all posters?

Any incite or help would be greatly appreciated.

No. It is only needed if you want to login into your Drupalsite using your twitter username and password.

Pls. read http://drupal.org/node/1346824. All of it except "Login to your Drupal site with Twitter" relate to your setup. After completing this setup, define your Twitter account as 'global' in Drupal, and then all your Drupal users will be able to post to twitter during node Creation.

Steps:

  1. Enable OAuth, create an app at dev.twitter.com and add your twitter API keys at the Twitter settings page.
  2. Add your Twitter account at your user profile edit page and make it global.
  3. Enable Twitter post and select which content types are supported. Then go to permissions and give the permission to use the Global Account to the roles you want.
  4. From now on, users with the role that has the above permission will have a Post to Twitter field when editing content, which will post automatically to your Twitter account.
