Redirect after login via logintoboggan block not working with actions/triggers or login destination...

Is there some kind of bug that prevents Logintoboggan to respect redirects created via triggers or via Login destination?

I just need to perform the simplest redirect, from front page/Logintoboggan block (which I've read it not so straight forward) to another interna url.

I read Rules integration's readme but it's not perfectly clear to me if Rules integration will work here.

Can someone please help me? I am fully aware that this issue has been posted to death, but the solution everytime is a link to Login destination, which in my case, is not working.
