Deduplication

Last updated on

Storage API has built in deduplication. This reduces the storage and network footprint.

If files added to the system have the same Whirlpool hash and also have the same filename, then they are considered to be the same file. Each file will at most only have one instance in a container. Only when all storages that want the same file to be in a container have been removed will the file instance in the container be destroyed.
