Issue Summary
The current RC1 is over one year old. There are many improvements done in the the -dev version since.
The problem though is that current -dev requires Drupal Core >7.10, a version that is currently only available as -dev itself and a new core release is not scheduled until Feb 1.
Please roll a RC2 that predates this new requirement, it would help avoid incompatibility and headache for many of us using the -dev version.

7.x-3.x-dev depends on Drupal core >7.10. A new release is only possible after the next Drupal core release.
See #1405212: Requirements problem (Unresolved dependency, System Version >=7.12 required) for details.
Keeping this open, but postponed on the core release.

isn't it possible to create a release that does not include the commits that creates this requirement?
As far as I noticed, this new requirements wasn't added until the commits that came the last few days?

The next core release is scheduled for Feb 1st. That's in 13 days. Thanks for your patience.

@sun: Nothing wrong with my patience, however please look at drupal.org/project/usage/drupal. Not even half of the 7.x sites pinging home is on 7.10. There are many reason why a site isn't immediately updated to a new release ASAP when it comes out. Also, at least 1/3 of those running on 7.10 was launched after it was released.
Adding this kind of requirement to such a popular module as this is big. I'm sure all those running on <7.11 will be very grateful for a stable release that works for them.

In case anyone wants it, here's a dev version of admin menu from December 23rd that doesn't require 7.10.
#6
Sun, this prevents ALL module updates (update.php) from happening.
#7
It is disappointing to install this module and see that it needs D7.10.
I'm sure most of the users doesn't plan to convert to 7.10, rather than getting into D8.

@trante: The dev version of Administration Menu requires current dev version of Drupal Core, or the 7.11 version that is due out on 1st of Feb.
Also, most users will sooner or later update their Drupal 7 to newer versions. No one is waiting for Drupal 8 that wont be out until earliest late 2013.

New release, yay.
#10
With the release of 7.12 this is a fixed issue.
#11
George, I actually don't see this as fixed as my request was to roll a version that does not require a >7.10 version of Drupal. No such version, non dev, of Admin menu is available so thus it is not fixed.
However, since that wont happen a more logical status is won't fix.

We're making some very good progress on remaining issues, especially http://drupal.org/project/issues/search/admin_menu?issue_tags=D7%20stabl...
Instead of a new RC, my plan is to roll the first 3.0 stable (ever) very soon. I'd highly appreciate your help with getting the remaining issues done.
