Are there any examples out there of using COD to create a virtual event that consists of a series of scheduled webcasts and live chat areas? If anyone has run a full-scale virtual conference from providers like ON24 or Inxpo, you'd probably agree that COD is not designed to be that kind of full-scale virtual environment, but has anyone taken it in that direction to allow hundreds or thousands of attendees to use the site as the central point of a "live" virtual event of some sort?

I haven't heard of doing a virtual event, but it seems like you definitely could.

I suggest looking for any related discussion in http://groups.drupal.org/cod and maybe asking the question over there. It's sometimes hard to know the right place for the right question and this one feels on the border to me of issue queue vs. g.d.o.
